Folks, there is no fee associated with grabbing cash advances with your purchases at the list of stores. It's nothing new though, but I am glad they finally posted a list (see original posting link). There is no charge AS LONG AS YOU PAYBACK THE CASHBACK AMOUNT IN FULL during your normal due dates. So I guess you can think of it as a "loan" for the month.

I find it rather helpful and I almost never have to go to the bank to use the ATM.

1. Different stores have different limits. For instance, Walmart and Safeway has $60 per transaction. Bristol Farms in San Francisco has $30 per transaction.

2. $200 max per 24 hours (note: PER 24 hours NOT per calendar day). $4000 max per month according to the Safeway receipt that was printed when I was in the store last time.

3. Tough, but unfortunately the "cash advance" amounts do not count towards the discover cash back program aka their 1-5% or like their ShopDiscover stores.

As a employee of wells fargo I can say use cash advances as a last ditch effort.....

I see a lot of people forget or neglect the amounts they take out and end up paying in the end. Just remember: Don't spend money you don't have.



Otherwise if you plan on paying up right away this could be a nice way to have cash upfront.
